Rev. Fr. Joseph Barta was ordained
a Roman Catholic priest as a member of the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians)
on June 3, 1978, at DeAndreis Seminary chapel in Lemont, Illinois by Cardinal
John Patrick Cody of Chicago. He then served on the staff of St.
Mary's Seminary in Houston, Texas and sometimes lectured at the University of
St. Thomas Graduate School of Theology.
He is currently a member of
the Society of Christ’s Priesthood and affiliated with the International Council
of Community Churches.
He holds the following degrees:
Master of Divinity - DeAndreis Institute of Theology - October 27, 1977
Master of Arts in Theology - University of Notre Dame - August 3, 1979
He has been married 25 years and is the father of two young adult children. He has
lived in the Atlanta area for 14 years.
